Five for Friday, vol 68

1. You get super excited to read my weekly photos posts, and now you like to submit some of yours.

2.  You make me a week's worth of espresso when you're going to be traveling because you don't like the idea of me drinking the free coffee at work.

3.  When I don't get up early in the mornings, you make a wall of pillows around me, which is amazing.

4.  Watching you hold, play with, or smile over pictures of our friends' new babies absolutely makes me melt.

5.  Whenever we have FaceTime conversations, you spend most of the time making funny faces at yourself.

I love you.

Five for Friday, vol 67

1. Your retelling of the time when Tucker and Penny banded against you on a walk, leaving you to trip, fall, and barrel roll in front of a mini van full of kids is one of the funniest things I've heard in weeks.

2. How's that egregious finger tip injury doing, by the way?

3. You collapsed into a giggle fit over a pony named Spiderman.

4. You always ask for five more minutes before Penny goes into her crate for the night.

5. You are full of practical advice and unyielding support. I might be coming apart at the seams, but you would be completely grounded. You keep me together. You're my rock.

I love you.

Five for Friday, vol 65

1. I woke up Sunday to find you making chocolate chip banana bread. And it was pretty good.

2. I like our rewards for working out.

3. You go along with it when I am on veggie kicks, but you also appreciate my all-carb dinners.

4. There are few things you appreciate more than clean sheets and towels at the end of a long day.

5. It's cute how much you like Ancient Aliens. (ALIENS?!?!)

I love you.

Bacon Egg Bake

Who wants brunch?  Maybe a little snack while we watch Game Day together?

Bacon Egg Bake
1/4 C mayonnaise - light or olive oil based
5 slices whole grain bread, toasted
4 slices American cheese
12 center cut bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
4 eggs
1 medium tomato, halved and sliced
2 T butter
2 T flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp white pepper
1 C skim milk
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice of toast and cut into small pieces. Arrange toast, mayonnaise side up, in a greased 8-in. square baking dish. Top with cheese slices and bacon.  In a large skillet, fry eggs over medium heat until completely set; place over bacon. Top with tomato slices; set aside.  In a small saucepan, melt butter. Stir in the flour, salt and pepper until smooth. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Pour over tomatoes. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese and onions. Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 10 minutes. Cut in squares; serve with lettuce. Adapted from Taste of Home

Enjoy

Five for Friday, vol 64

1. You're a great party planner.

2.You can make me whatever kind of eggs I want ... as long as I want scrambled.

3. We just had a serious discussion about whether it's "beans, beans the musical fruit" or "green beans the magical fruit."

4. Because of your green bean side car.

5. JACKPOT.

I love you.

I love you more than cake.

For the first anniversary, there is an expectation of cake. Ours, albeit a year old and slightly crumpled-looking, was delicious. Another year has come and gone, but the tradition should live on.

And so, our little anniversary tradition has been born. We open some wine, we light candles, we use the nice china, we toast to each other and another happy year.

And we eat cake (no matter what color).

Love is sweet, indeed!

The Second Year

I believe in a thing called love ...
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart.

Dear Kenny,

Has it really been two years since this moment when we exchanged vows, rings, and love letters written with the exact same words? So much has changed, and yet so little. No longer newlyweds, but still full of as much joy and hope for the future as that day. I learn lessons nearly every day about what it means to be your spouse, as well as some new way that I love you (and that you love me). Thank you for your silliness, for your sensibilities, and for your support. You make it so easy to have a happily ever after.

From September 4 to Infinity, minus two years.
